Participation in coding challenges and competitions improves skills and offers bragging rights to those who make the cut. All over the world, there are free coding competitions coming up in the first half of 2020.

Here are our top five upcoming competitions: 

Jan 

Codechef — a monthly coding contest the gives participants 10 days to solve a problem. As a beginner, it gives you enough time to think and solve. They also have shorter format Cook-off and Lunchtime coding contests (3 hours) to test your speed and accuracy.

Feb, 4

Kick Start — a worldwide online-hosted competition. You can develop programming skills on algorithmic challenges, all developed by Google engineers so that you get a taste of the technical skills needed for a career at Google. If you place as one of the top competitors, Google will give you a shot at an interview.

Mar, 3

Code Jam — a global coding competition. It calls on programmers around the world to solve challenging, algorithmic puzzles against the clock. In this contest, there are a lot of rounds. At the end of the competition, only the top-25 contestants will compete for the championship title and a cash prize of $15,000.

CODINGAME SPRING CHALLENGE 2020 — a worldwide programming competition where you can improve your coding skills by playing games.

April, 4

Catalysts coding contest —  Europe’s largest coding contest. In 2020 coders from all over the world will compete at the 33rd CCC. The competition will take place offline (in Austria, Germany, Romania) and online. 

There are two levels of competition:

  1. #school for beginners and pupils;
  2. #classic for everyone.
